Crown Tourney

Ahh... now that was a nice weekend. Friday evening was spent at home working on a new underdress for Saturday as the arms on my ten gore are a bit snug and I wanted something a tad bit looser to go under the houppelande. Got the dress cut out and sewn - put a bit of binding tape around the neckline (as this truly was to be a quickie underdress - and so far was) and went to try it on. The arms were even tighter then the ten-gore and the tabs that I cut out of the binding tape for the neckline were cut on the wrong side. :( So now new underdress, this one will be retired to the when I loose weight side of the SCA section of my closet. The ten gore worked well enough for the day - so I did wear that.

Saturday morning eyes popped open at 5AM - it was going to be a great day! So I went ahead and got the final things ready for the weekend and ran out the door to meet Amanda and Drew at L&Cs to ride up together. The drive was really nice until we got to an interesting intersection - we were driving down 64W and were to continue onto US276 - prob was where 64W met up with US276 - 64W turned left and the sign showed US276 going either straight ahead or left. NO directional anything. So we asked for directions and found out that where we had to go was straight - which meant OVER the mountain..... literally. So up we went with majorly winding roads and were just starting to get a little panicky when the camp showed up on our left - whew! We were there.

Got all checked in and ready to go and the processions began. Most were simple affairs. Achbars was pretty good - the herald was singing and this procession branched out showing off his shield (which I painted!!!). It was a great thing to see. Then came Val and Arielles. Wow! That is how it should be done! I love processions like that. To me each procession should be like a float in a parade. The colors were amazing, the costumes were all coordinated, Robear playing the drum was a really nice touch.

The tourney began and we were on pins and needles the entire time watching the tourney progress. One by one participants were eliminated as they always are. Everyone did really well and while we were disappointed when Bryan and Sinclair both were out, we all knew that the best part of the day was yet to come - unbeknownst to Sinclair.

Robert de Rath won..... dont know him, have never met him, but everyone seems pretty happy that it was him so it should be a good reign.

Cassandra dragged me off to the heraldic table as soon as everything was finished to get my badge submitted. It looks like it should be a go - so that is terrific!

We were getting things packed when they announced court and ran in to get seated. While watching the girls all indicate to the guys to get Sinclair into court without being too obvious about it as he was still packing. Court progressed it was great to see Ronan, Mary, and Mom get recognized for all the hard work they do. Truly deserved! Brian got his SeaStag! Yay!! That finally gave Cassandra an excuse to drag her camera out that she and I had to pass back and forth and hide under the folds of our gowns to keep Sinclair from seeing. Then Logan got called into court and started a conversation with Janos about one of his squires. Sinclair absolutely froze when they said his name. It was truly wonderful!

We all headed out to dinner afterwards and went on back to L&Cs. Were up way too late and still had stuff to do on Sunday. Sunday was spent preparing for Feast of the Unicorn, and pretty much every spare moment from here on out probably will be! :)

Went to dinner at my parents on Sunday night, went over with Dad the computer I want next and the digital camera. Then made fried green tomatoes for Mom. Surprising enough Grandpa really like them too!! Dad didnt care for them, but I see a new favorite for Mom, Grandpa, and I. She had a few left so gave them to me to take home. Guess whats for dinner tonight!!

Got home early, curled up to watch Desperate Housewives, and fell asleep before it ever began.
